How to send wedding invitations on WhatsApp (and get every RSVP back)

3 November 2026, 2 min read

Most Pakistani families now send at least some wedding invitations on WhatsApp. Done well, it is faster, cheaper and easier to track than printed cards. Here is how to do it properly.

1. Send a link, not a forwarded image

An image card gets lost in long family groups and can't be updated. A link opens a full invitation with every function, venue maps and an RSVP form, and if a time changes, everyone's link shows the new time.

2. Write a short, warm message

"Assalam o Alaikum! You and your family are warmly invited to the wedding of Ayesha and Hamza. Please open the invitation for details and let us know who is coming: [link]"

In Roman Urdu: "Assalam o Alaikum! Aap ko aur aap ki family ko Ayesha aur Hamza ki shaadi ki taqreebat mein dil se madoo karte hain. Tafseel aur RSVP ke liye yeh link kholein: [link]"

3. Send personal links to elders

Elders often expect a personal invitation, not a group message. With personal guest links, each family gets a link that greets them by name, such as "Mohtaram Khalid Sahab & Family", and shows only the functions they are invited to.

4. Ask for a reply per function

"Are you coming?" is not enough when there are four functions. Ask each family to reply for Mayun, Mehndi, Barat and Walima separately, with the number of people. That number is what your caterer needs.

5. Follow up with families who haven't replied

A week before the deadline, send a gentle reminder only to families who haven't replied. On InviteWala, the guest list shows who has opened their link and who has replied, with a one-tap WhatsApp reminder.

6. Share a QR code for printed cards

If you still print a few cards for elders, add the QR code from your invitation so they can open the full details on their phone.
